Repairing the damaged section stops that leak, but it does not correct the water chemistry. When low pH continues untreated, other areas may remain vulnerable.

UGA Extension also identifies calcium carbonate filtration as a standard treatment for acidic private well water.

Does an Acid Neutralizer Make Water Harder?

Calcite adds calcium, so treated water may become harder. A home with existing hardness may need a water softener after the neutralizer.

System order matters. The neutralizer generally treats acidity first, followed by equipment selected to address hardness, iron, sediment, or other tested conditions.
